Buying Real Estate in Qatar

One cannot say that Qatar has not suffered anything due to the current global recession. However it has done it in a very light way, mainly because of needed public spending.

Ownership laws have relaxed since 2004 and now foreigners can buy freehold properties in 3 different spots:

• The Pearl, a huge development over created islands,
• West Bay Lagoon, close to The Pearl,
• Barwa Al-Khor, 50 km north of Doha.

Besides, it's posible to buy long-term leaseholds properties.

In terms of real estate investment, Qatar could be one of the best options in the world. In any case, be prepared: delays on the construction deadlines may be expected due to minor financial difficulties.
