Twenty-five years spent managing risk in one of the world's most operationally complex systems. An MSc in Financial Engineering from Imperial College London. Two books — Against the Tide: How to Retire Young and What to Do Afterwards and A Smart Family's Guide to Modern Finance — on achieving financial independence without following the crowd. SimplyNoRisk is where both fields meet: the same discipline that keeps aircraft separated applies, with equal rigour, to making capital grow.

About this blog

SimplyNoRisk has been published since 2007 out of a single conviction: that private investors, armed with the right frameworks and the discipline to apply them, can navigate financial markets as well as — and often better than — the institutions that claim to do it for them.

The blog sits at the intersection of macroeconomics, asset allocation, and geopolitics. It carries no advertising, manages no money, and sells nothing. It publishes a point of view, cites its sources, and tries to be honest about uncertainty — which, in finance, is most of the time.

"The goal is not a portfolio with no risk. It is a portfolio whose risks are known, sized, and balanced against each other."

Risk is not something you eliminate. It is something you understand, position around, and occasionally turn to your advantage when others are running from it.
